  • Hi Ivan.

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble opening the files. You're referring to files you've downloaded from this page, correct?: http://missingmanuals.com/cds/photosh...

We haven't heard of other people having trouble opening the sample files, so can you please provide a bit more information about your exact problem? For example, have you been able to open *any* of the sample files, or are they all giving you problems? Did you download the Zip file that contains all the sample files, or download the files individually? What happens when you try to open them--nothing? Or does Elements present some kind of error message?

Sorry for all the questions, but I need a bit more info to help you out.

    Best,

Thank you for your prompt reply. The first time I downloaded the complete zip file I found the pictures opened O.K. in Windows (Vista) Picture gallery but not in Elements 9. I have an authentic version ,not a copy, purchased from Amazon. I keep getting "cannot open ,wrong kind of file". I have just tried again after getting your E`mail with the same result from Windows and Elements 9.I have right clicked the zip file and used the "open with " option but all to no avail.I hope you can help. • Hi Ivan.

I'm sorry, but I'm still not quite clear exactly which file(s) you're having trouble with. Are you having trouble opening the Zip file that contains the sample images, or the sample images themselves?

If you're having trouble with the Zip file, you can download the individual sample files one at a time instead--just click the appropriate links on the book's Missing CD page.

If you're having trouble opening the individual sample images after you open the Zip file that they're in, can you please tell me how you're trying to open those images?

  • I’m still confused
I have tried both downloading the Zip folder and opening it .In neither case will Photoshop 9 open the photo`s.It keeps saying " cannot open ,wrong kind of file ".With the zip file I have tried double clicking and right clicking -open with? -Photoshop Elements 9 but Photoshop still cannot open them.
I`m not sure what you mean by download individual sample files. The only options offered are to download the zip file or to click the"open " option.I ,as I say ,have tried both unsuccessfully.
I think I may just give up.

  • Hi Ivan.

It sounds like it is the Zip file that's giving you trouble rather than the sample files themselves. I'm not sure how to help you open the Zip file successfully, but I can easily explain how to downloand the individual sample files:

Go to the book's Missing CD page: http://missingmanuals.com/cds/photosh...

Then, scroll down to the chapter you're working on and click the name of the specific sample file you'd like to download (they're all mentioned in the book). For example, you can scroll down to the section for Chapter 3 and click the links to download river.jpg and russian_box.jpg.

    I hope that helps.
