I want to get into development for the iPhone and RubyOnRails. I'm not concerned about competing with experienced developers right now, I just want to learn how to build apps on these two platforms.
I'm a quick learner but I have no experience in any kind of real software development. So..which books should I buy that will teach me from end-to-end how to get an iPhone app and a RoR app up and running?

EMPLOYEE0For iPhone development, I'd recommend:
Learning iPhone Programming
iPhone App Development: The Missing Manual
For Rails Development, you might like:
Head First Rails
Both of these books have discussion forums. Here's the Head First Rails Forum and the Learning Rails Forum.
You can also find more books and videos, related blog entries, book excerpts, and other resources on our iPhone Development page and our Ruby (and Rails) page.
