I’m confused

Where is Free online edition coupon?

I just got Head First C# from Amazon. The back cover states that details for free access to Safari Books Online are on the last page, but the last 20 pages are just the index. Do you not supply the required "coupon" on books through Amazon?

  • Hello,

I'm sorry you're having trouble locating the coupon code. I just looked at a physical copy of the book. The coupon code, with redemption instructions, appears on the page immediately following the last page of the index.

I will be more detailed this time...

Page 738 is the last page of the index.
The next page is totally blank, It does not have a page number, I will call it page 739.
The next page also has no page number. I will call it page 740. Page 740 has a bar code on the bottom left corner of the page. There is a number 4680029 under the bar code. Centered In the very bottom of page 740 are the words "Made in USA; Lexington KL;18 February 2010"

The next page, I will call page 741 is totally blank. Page 741 is not just paper, it is made of heavy card stock. Page 741 is the inside of the back cover.

The next page is the outside of the back cover. This is the very back of the book. It clearly states that the details for the online edition are on the last page, but THEY ARE NOT!

I acknowledge that YOUR book has the coupon code with redemption instructions immediately following the last page of the index, but mine does not. That is the reason for my original post.

Maybe it was a printing error at the book binding factory. Mistakes can happen. It omission may also be intentional Perhaps employees at the book binding factory are inserting blank pages and selling the codes on the Internet. That scenario actually seems very plausible.

The bottom line is that my book does not have the coupon code or redemption instructions after the index pages. What steps do I need to do to recover my code?

  • Hi,

It sounds to me like a printing error.

I am unable to post the code on Get Satisfaction but I'm happy to provide it to you via email. Please file a case with our customer service department via support.safaribooksonline.com. Please note on your case that it should be assigned to Diane. Or, post your case number back here and I will pick it up.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thousands of books are printed with coupon codes and we rarely have an issue. This is the exception, not the rule.

    I'll await your reply.

    Thank you,
    Diane
