What's new in the 2nd edition of "Version Control with Git"?

The 2nd edition is 37% bigger (454 pages vs. 330) and has 5 more chapters. The 2nd edition describes version 1.7.9 of Git (just slightly behind the current version, 1.7.12, released this week) vs the relatively ancient version 1.6.0 in the 1st edition. Clearly there is a lot of new material. Why doesn't O'Reilly's website have a list or even a short summary of what is new in the 2nd edition?

Thanks for contacting us with your question about this title, and I apologize for the delay in responding to you.

The authors updated the book for the new version of Git, covering the new features, and they added four new chapters:

    17. Submodule Best Practices
    19. Advanced Manipulations
    20. Tips, Tricks, and Techniques
    21. Git and GitHub

You can also learn more about the new edition in this interview with the author: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJ_cUy...

I hope that helps to answer the questions you have about this new edition.
