In "Developing Web Applications with Haskell and Yesod", on page 9, 2nd paragraph it states:
On Mac and Linux, this will be $HOME/.cabal/bin"
Can someone tell me what Unix command to use to change my $HOME to what the author states. Currently, my $HOME is /Users/userName?
Also, what does .cabal stand for?

You don't actually want to change your $HOME to what the author said, but you want to add /.cabal/bin to your PATH variable. This page shows you how to add items to your PATH -
Cabal is the standard Haskell build tool.
