I’m frustrated

Unable to register print book

I am trying to register a print book that I have recently bought. The register link within account books throws a 404 page not found error. Is there some other way to register a print book and upgrade to an ebook version?

    Hi Vivek,
Apologies for the frustration here. Since we no longer sell eBooks on our site we have discontinued the promotion where you can register a print book to get the eBook upgrade. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

We do still sell our eBooks on other online shops however, and you can find them at iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and eBooks.com.

    Cheers

  • Hi

So you are saying O'Reilly has stopped selling ebooks and only offering books through safari online? Are there any plans to stop selling print books too?

I just want to register my print book in order to get an ebook at a reasonable price. It should be easier than what is currently on offer. O'Reilly should provide upgrade options from print to electronic versions and vice versa. It makes no sense to buy a monthly/yearly membership just for having access to electronic versions of your print books.

I know I can always buy an ebook online from other retailers. However its not reasonable to pay full amount for an electronic version of the print book you already own. Most of the publishers give you ebook free of cost when you already own its print version.

      Hi Vivek,
Unfortunately that is correct, we no longer sell eBooks or print books on our online shop, but as with our eBooks, that are now sold from other retailers (Amazon, Barnes and Noble's, etc).
We find that many of our customers find great value in our Safari subscription (where you can access over 40,000 eBooks, videos, learning paths, live online training sessions and case studies) for a reasonable monthly or annual fee. If you are so inclined, you can check out a 10 day free trial of Safari (without a credit card) here to see if you find it to be of use to you: https://www.safaribooksonline.com/public/free-trial/

      Cheers,

    Hi,

ridikulous! This is why I've stopped buying Oreilly books. Apress still has this feature, so I'll buy books there!

    Best regards,
    Christian.

P.S. Let me know here when you've started selling ebook upgrades again. Thanks.
