Ubuntu for non geeks DVD for eBook readers?

I've just started reading "ubuntu for non geeks 4th edition" and it refers to a DVD supplied with the print version. Is this available for those of us who purchased the eBook? I noticed there was a web site for updates www.edgy-penguins.org/UFNG/ but the site doesn't appear to exist. Strange for a book that's not yet a year old.

  • Hi Charlie,

I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We're working on making the DVD files available along with the ebook bundle, so that you'll be able to download the files from Your Products page.

It does look like the companion site is no longer available. This is a book we distribute for No Starch Press, so we'll let them know about this.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but we appreciate that you took the time to write us. I'll let you know when the DVD files are available.

    Regards,

  • Hi Rachel,

Thank you for your response, any idea of timescales? I presume also that other eBooks where the print book has a DVD will also have the files available to the eBook purchasers?

    Regards,

  • Hi Charlie,

I wanted to let you know that the files are now available for download on Your Products page where you download the ebook files. You should see a download option that says "CD Content", like this:

Yes, when the print book has a CD/DVD, we should be making the content available. If we're making it available publicly, you'll see it under the Essential Links section of a product's page, and if we're making it available only to people who have purchased the ebook, it will show up in the Buying Options section as an available format, like this:
