The "Programming in Scala" ePub book renders coloured code in proportional-spacing in Apple's iBooks

Whenever coloured code keywords appear in the "Programming in Scala" ePuyb book, they appear in proportional-width spacing beside fixed-width code without colour.

This only happens with the ePub in iBooks. I tested it with "Bluefire Reader" and it displays fine.

This also doesn't appear in the PDF version of the book.

I've also confirmed that coloured code shows up just fine in the "Seven Languages in Seven Weeks" ePub book in iBooks.

Therefore it must be something specific of the way code was formatted in the Scala book that's specific to iBooks. It may be an iBooks bug, but there is definitely an ePub workaround that could work.
