I’m frustrated

Reconsider print pre-order policy to include eBook

I would like to pre-order the print version of a book, but get immediate access to the early-release digital files. This doesn't appear to be your policy, which means I won't be buying this book from you, in any form. Please reconsider your policy regarding this matter since I don't want to pay twice for the same material.

  • Hi Mike,
I'd be happy to pass the suggestion on to the powers that be here. Which book was it you're interested in ordering here?

The book I am interested in is "Python for Data Analysis, 2E", by Wes McKinney. Eventually, I would like a hardcopy book for reference so I can put in bookmarks and quickly get to frequently-used sections. But I don't want to get the 2012 version since the technology has changed and it is already out-of-date. I would be willing to pay the full $50 upfront for the pre-order version, but I can't wait until Sept. since I need to apply it on the job now, hence my interest in the "2E" electronic version.

I love O'Reilly's policy of providing the electronic versions along with the hardcopy, but it seems it doesn't really apply in this case. And I certainly can't see paying twice for the same material - $43 for the Early Release and $50 for the hardcopy (especially when the Amazon pre-order price is $28).
