Thanks for asking: It's a great question. O'Reilly has no control over what Amazon chooses to charge; in this case, it's an exceptional discount on a single Microsoft Press Training Kit. I mean, that's one very nice price....
Quite often an abnormally high discount has to do with Amazon’s inventory situation: they'll frequently increases discounts on print titles they feel they are over inventoried on, until stocking levels in their distribution centers are back into what they consider a balanced position.
Amazon also experiments with their pricing algorithms, as do many e-retailers; that may be playing a part in what you're seeing as well: they may be trying to find a sweet-spot for sales for this and other similar titles.
I’d advise you to take advantage of this terrific value while can, if the print version is what you need.
On the other hand, the electronic version offers multiple formats, all DRM-free, that can be accessed from more than one device. Either way, I hope you can get what you need out of the book--print or digital version--and that you'll let us know how it worked for you.
My very best regards,
Steve Weiss - Associate Publisher - O'Reilly Media / Microsoft Press Division
