Poor quality printing

I bought the book, Python for Data Analysis by Wes McKinney, and I am quite disappointed in the print quality. See the attached photo. Serif fonts are pretty much impossible to read for longer than 5 minutes. Most of the strokes disappear.

Unfortunately I am in South Africa and ordered via, so to return this and get a new copy (and probably the same horrible one) will take over a month. What is the point of buying physical books if I can rather just read a PDF on a low resolution monitor.

Seems it's a "print on demand" book that is printed in the US and the code starts with BV.
