OReillyMedia Twitter Search API error - {"errors":[{"message":"Bad Authentication data","code":215}]}

Hi Jake,
I've been learning mobile web development with following your "HTML5 Web Development" videos but when i am making API call for OReillyMedia tweets( var apiCall = 'http://search.twitter.com/search.json...';), it's giving me below error

when i am trying to use search API as per your code, i am getting the following error:
{"errors":[{"message":"Bad Authentication data","code":215}]}

Can you pleas advise on how to rectify this, i know Twitter API1.1 introduce authentication token.

  • Hello Nilesh,

    I just heard from the author of this video and I'll relay the information he provided to me. He states that it looks like Twitter has fully deprecated it's v1.0 APIs and ALL of the new APIs require OAuth. Twitter does link to a number of libraries that handle OAuth and the Twitter APIs. He suggest you check out this link: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/twitter-....

    He does offer another workaround that would be to fake the Twitter API call and instead just request a pre-crafted JSON file that had the correct data you wanted. You could checkout the old documentation and just copy the example JSON response and save it as a file on their server. Then instead of going through the real JSON request via the PHP file, you could just request that JSON file and parse it like you would if the JSON actually came from Twitter. You can find the old JSON response on this page: https://dev.twitter.com/docs/api/1/ge.... Hope this helps!
