MS ADO.NET 4 Step By Step, PDF Ed, p257: InnerException

MS ADO.NET 4 Step By Step, PDF Ed, p257:
After entering the necessary code in step 2 and 3, when clicking the [Single Entity] button, I get an error: "InnerException {Invalid object name 'dbo.Customer'} " -- which is incorrect reference to the Customers (plural) table.
Any suggestions?

  • The reference to dbo.Customer (single) is correct. Entity SQL uses a non-standard pluralized syntax to describe a table of individual entity rows. Internally, it converts the plural "Customers" to the singular "Customer" before running the query in the database. The error message you received indicates it can't find the table at all. Please confirm that the DataSource and InitialCatalog settings you entered in step 2 on page 257 match your configuration. You should replace the default values in the book with your specific settings. If you continue to have problems with this issue, you can contact me directly at the email listed below.
