mac leopard vs mac snow leopard - the difference?

what is the difference between the missing manual switching to the mac for leopard and the one for snow leopard? There are two editions, one 2008, one 2009. Any significant differences?

  • Hi Cathleen,

The two editions refer to the different version of Mac OS X. Snow Leopard is the newest version of Mac OS X, version 10.6. Leopard is the previous one, version 10.5.

While many parts of the books are similar, it's definitely best to use the book that matches the version of the operating system that you have, because they cover the systems in depth and you would encounter differences.

You can find out what version of Mac OS X that your computer has by going to the Apple menu in the upper left-hand corner and clicking About This Mac.

(You can see here that my Mac has Version 10.4.11, which is an older version of OS X, referred to as Tiger)

    Hope this helps,
