I’m frustrated

LPIC-1 ebook format

Hi,

Why is it that the ebook "LPIC-1: Linux Professional Institute Certification Study Guide, 2nd Edition" is not available in the PDF format? I see the vast majority of your ebooks are PDF as well as other options but this one is only available in .mobi and .epub formats...

Regards,
Karl

  • Hi Karl,

Thanks for writing us about this, and I'm sorry for the frustration. I'll check with the ebooks team to see if this ebook can be made available in more formats.

Ebooks that we distribute for other publishers may not be available in as many formats as our own, but we do want to make all ebooks available in as many formats as possible. If additional formats are added for this ebook, they'll be available to anyone who purchased the ebook.

I'll let you know what I find out.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Rachel,

Thanks for the reply, I see in the ebook itself there is mention of a PDF version, does this only come with the physically printed books?

P.S. It's great to offer many formats but I would've thought PDF was the standard.

  • Hi Karl,

You're right, it does look like a PDF comes on the companion CD. I'll check to see if we can make the contents of the CD available as well as the PDF itself.

PDF is our standard format (ideally, along with all of the other formats), but some publishers publish most of their ebooks as epubs to be read with Adobe Digital Editions.

    Regards,

  • I’m annoyed
    Hi,

Any progress on this? I really, really want the PDF version, *every* other ebook I have bought is in PDF version (as well as other formats) but this one is not available in PDF... Even the LPIC-2 book comes in the PDF format. As mentioned previously, there is mention of a PDF formatted version when you by the printed book (comes on the included CD), so why has it taken so long to get the PDF format in the store?

    Regards,
    Karl

  • Thanks for checking about this again, Karl, and I'm sorry for the frustration. The difficulty is that the PDF is not something we can generate ourselves (which we can do quickly for our own ebooks), but is something we'd need to get from Wiley. We asked again, but haven't received the PDF from them.

We'll check with them about this again, but you could also try contacting Wiley customer service via their support site to see if they could do anything for you.

I'm sorry we haven't been able to get you the PDF, but we appreciate you asking.
