JavaScript: The Definitive Guide 2nd edition vs 6th edition

Hi, I recently purchased the book JavaScript: The Definitive Guide 2nd edition from Barnes and Noble. I was wondering if you guys could provide me with a full list of things added and removed from the 2nd edition to the 6th edition, if that is possible. I don't have enough money at the moment to purchase the 6th edition and decided to go with the 2nd edition for now. Is this 2nd edition sufficient for 2012 or is the information in the book obsolete?

  • Hi, Steven.

The 6th edition is updated to cover HTML5 and ECMAScript 5. Many chapters have been completely rewritten to bring them current.

Unfortunately, much of the information in the 2nd Edition is likely to be outdated due to the rapid evolution of JavaScript.

Keep in mind that if you register your 2nd edition at oreilly.com, you can get a 40% upgrade discount for the print version of the 6th edition and a 50% upgrade discount for the ebook.

    Best,
