Is 'Restful Web APIs' an update of their 2007 book 'Restful Web Services'?
Or does the earlier book cover areas which are still important that are not covered by the new one?

  • Hello Mark,

Thanks for your interest in RESTful Web APIs and Restful Web Services. RESTful Web APIs is not an update of Restful Web Services as updates are typically new editions of titles, and these two books seem to cover different topics.

The description of RESTful Web APIs includes this: "You’ll explore the concepts behind REST, learn different strategies for creating hypermedia-based APIs, and then put everything together with a step-by-step guide to designing a RESTful Web API."

Whereas the description of Restful Web Services is: " It shows how you can connect to the programmable web with the technologies you already use every day. The key is REST, the architectural style that drives the Web" and does not focus on designing RESTful Web API. You can find full descriptions of these titles on oreilly.com here: http://shop.oreilly.com/product/06369... and http://shop.oreilly.com/product/97805.... Hope this helps and have a great day!
