How long must I wait for Kindle auto-delivery, and what about previous purchases?

Two related questions: I just set up auto-deliver to my Kindle via email. 1) Do I need to do something to have previous purchases auto-delivered? 2) How long does it typically take? Seconds, minutes, hours, days? (If it's more than a few minutes it's a deal-killer for me.)

  • Hello Mike,

Unfortunately we don't have an auto-delivery function for previous purchases, but thanks taking the time to write us about this. You can use the "Send to Kindle" option for previously purchased ebooks.

The speed of sending your ebooks to Kindle using the "Send to Kindle" option can depend, and unfortunately we don't have control over that as the file is being sent to Amazon. Have a great day!

    Kind regards,

  • I've been waiting for my Kindle delivery for too long. I'm trying to figure out what's the delay. Does your system have to convert the book before it sends? I'm accustomed to getting books within seconds after ordering from Amazon, so does that mean your system is not able to connect with Amazon's kindle version and give an okay to send it? I want fast food and products delivered to my front door kind of guy haha. Thanks!

  • Hello Darian,

Sorry that you feel it is taking too long for you to get your books using the "Send to Kindle" option. By default, we will send to @free.kindle.com email addresses only, and your ebooks will only be sent over wifi. If you want to use Kindle's Personal Document Service for delivery on wi-fi and off, you can select this option on your account settings. Service fees apply (More information about Kindle Document Service fees). By using the @free.kindle.com method the request is processed by Amazon, and unfortunately may take some time. More information on send ebooks to your Kindle can be found here: http://shop.oreilly.com/category/customer-service/kindle.do. I hope this helps and have a great day!

  • It's quicker to download the MOBI and then upload it onto the Kindle. The download is ready to go and can be uploaded onto the Kindle in a few minutes. I don't mind buying from O'Reilly if the MOBI document is ready upon purchase. Which, from my first buying experience, it is ready to go. Thanks!
