I’m laughing at how difficult it is to handle gift subscriptions

Horrible Make Magazine Customer Service!

In early December I filled out a "renew my subscription / get someone a one year subscription free" holiday card that was in my Make Magazine. I never heard a thing until mid-January when I asked the recipient if he received his gift and he said no.

I emailed Make Magazine customer service and asked them what was going on and received a reply about 3 days later. Apparently my account has a "balance due" of 1/2 of the normal yearly subscription and the gift recipient had a "credit hold" of the remaining half of the yearly subscription. Neither myself nor the gift recipient received any sort of communication regarding what was owed and why the subscription was "waiting"...

I replied that this was not acceptable. Not only was this incredibly poor communication but never in my life have I heard of a gift subscription being 1/2 charged to the GIFT recipient! That was 2 weeks ago. I havent heard anything about this problem since.

Its now 8 weeks since I filled out the gift subscription card and its been 6 weeks since Christmas. I just sent an email to customer service, if they're still there at all because I have no idea if they are or not, and told them to cancel this gift subscription. This is absurd and unacceptable.
