Hello i am currently on page 402 of [ HEAD FIRST Html and css 2nd edition],chapter 9 (the box model),
I have a ? regarding the exercise example no 2 of tablet,
because the solution shows that max-width is 1024px for both Portrait and Landscape,
am i wrong,isn't that supposed to be 768px on landscape and 1024 for portrait ?
please help :) :)

The book is correct showing the max-device-width of 1024. I found this explanation with a Google search on max device width:
max-device-width refers to the viewport size of the device regardless of orientation, current scale or resizing. This will not change on a device so cannot be used to switch style sheets or CSS directives as the screen is rotated or resized
