"Google: The Missing Manual" is a few years old now, so some of the information in it might not be current, since Google is always making tweaks to their offerings.
Regarding deleting a contact from Gmail, if you sign into Gmail and click "Contacts" on the left side of your screen, you'll see a list of your contacts. Click "All Contacts" to see 'em all, and then turn on the checkboxes next to the people you want to delete. Then, in the upper right part of your screen, click the "Delete Contact(s)" button (it has a trashcan on it).
Regarding your other questions, the sites you mentioned have likely changed since the book was published. Sorry about that.
Finally, you can download the worksheets mentioned int he book here:
-Cost-per-sale worksheet: http://examples.oreilly.com/googletmm...
-Cost-per-day worksheet: http://examples.oreilly.com/googletmm...
I hope that helps.
