I’m frustrated

Essential SqlAlchemy PDF doesn't include code examples?

Just bought "Essential SqlAlchemy" print and download books. The PDF directed me to the O'Rielly store page for this book to download example code, but the example code doesn't appear to be available. Without the downloadable code, the ebook is much less useful.

On top of that, this page indicates that the "likelihood of your question getting noticed" is "medium", which frustrates me even more.

Why pay for ebooks if the I have to go through this frustration to actually use them? Do I have to pay more to increase my "likelihood" of getting service beyond "medium"?

  • Hi T C,

I'm sorry for the frustration and that the example files are not available. That sentence in the introduction is not good, because it suggests that all books have downloadable examples, but some do not. Currently, there are no downloadable examples for this book, just the code that's integrated into the text. I'm checking to see if it would be possible for us to extract the larger code segments to make them available for download.

Thanks for your comments about the way this forum works, I'll pass them on to Get Satisfaction. I believe this is meant to let users know whether their question includes enough detail, but I agree that the way it's phrased is irritating and suggests that your question won't be answered.

  • Hi T C,

We've extracted the code examples from the book into text files for each chapter. You can now download the zip of all of the examples or download examples for individual chapters from the examples directory page.

The Examples link will also show up on the Essential SQLAlchemy page soon.

Let us know if you have questions.
