I am an A+ and MCP certified PC user of 11 years, mildly fed-up with Windows Updates and Antivirus programs, and am considering switching to a Macbook Pro. I have read most of "OS X Mountain Lion" and recently started reading "Macbook for Dummies".
I'm very curious how OS 10.8 keeps its standard hard drive(s) from becoming fragmented. Neither book mentions disk defragmenting (at least it isn't an index item). Could you please explain how this important item is handled in OS 10.8?
