I’m frustrated

Disappointed with mobile device version of book!

I purchased understanding the Linux kernel third edition from the apple app store. I own the hard copy and really like the book, but the app version constantly crashes and is terrible looking on my iPad. You should really spend more effort making sure your books are the same quality on mobile devices as they are in print. I am very disappointed.

  • Hi Zachary,
I'm sorry for the delay in responding to you, and that your app is crashing. Sometimes the formatting will be changed somewhat when ported to the iTunes store and it will adversely affect the functionality of the eBook.

I'll drop you link to our versions of the eBook for you in the hopes that it works as intended. I recommend the ePub version of the book, as those usually work best on the iPad (though the PDF works just as well)

If it still doesn't work or look great, please do let us know so we can get our eBook folks to take a look at it.

    Cheers
    Tai H.

Thank you. I just downloaded Apples iBooks app then clicked your ePub link you sent via email. I am very happy with what I see now. This is what I was expecting when I purchased the book in the app store. My advice to orielly, is just use Apples iBook app. Don't try to reinvent the wheel, find a way to distribute your books with a prerequisite of iBooks when selling to an iPad user.
