Access 2007 SBS Error Chapter 8. Where do I find any answer?

I have purchased Access 2007 Step-by Step and find an error in Chapter 8 Page 235. I am unable to perform the step 10 to move the controls under the Category Name Header as indicated in the exercise. I have been unable to find a way to access answers to errors as indicated in the front of the book!

  • Hi John,

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble with step 10 in those directions. Can you tell me what happens when you select both the Category Name label and text box? Can you get those selected? You have to hold down shift to select both of them. Once they are selected, the cursor indicates you can move them when you hover over them, and you can just drag them.
If you are having trouble with that, please provide more details about how it's not working for you.

    Best regards,

  • I’m annoyed with myself
    Hi Chris,

To learn, never having used Access before, and needing to rewrite some databases I have previously produced for friends, I am following the SBS and Inside/Out Access Books. I have been retired now for 22 years but I have used dBase from dBase 1 upwards through II, III, IV and V, VdB 5, 7 and dB2 since Ashton-Tate first produced dBI many years ago. I wanted to follow the exercises as in the SBS Books to become familiar with Access. I currently program in dBase Version 2.8 but Access 2007 would seem to suit my friends better, they have Access 2007. I was able to select both the label and text box in the exercise in Chapter 8 but when I tried to move them up under the Category Name Header as indicated they 'refused' to move above the Detail Header. I was able to move them by cutting and pasting but this did not follow the exercise instructions. I was looking to try and find if there was a section of Errata listed anywhere to see if this was already covered but could not find the errata at the site indicated in the book forward.

    Regards
